Frequently asked questions

Is my medication data private?

Yes. Merra is local-first: your data is stored on your device. If you opt into iCloud sync, your data moves across your Apple devices using Apple's end-to-end-encrypted CloudKit. Studio never sees it. See the privacy policy for details.

Does Merra work offline?

Yes — all core features (logging doses, viewing schedules, scanning prescriptions) work entirely offline. iCloud sync requires a network connection but is optional.

How do I add a medication?

Open the Medications tab, tap the + button, and choose either Scan label (camera) or Add manually. Scanning uses on-device OCR to fill in the name, dosage, and instructions automatically.

How do I set up reminders?

When you add a medication, set a schedule (daily, specific weekdays, every N hours, etc.) and the times you want reminders. Merra will request notification permission the first time. You can also enable Live Activities for upcoming doses.

How do I back up my data?

Go to Settings → Backup and tap Export Backup. You'll get an encrypted bundle you can save to Files, iCloud Drive, or share with another device. Restore from the same screen.

How do I sync between my iPhone and iPad?

Make sure both devices are signed into the same iCloud account and have iCloud Drive enabled. In Merra, go to Settings → iCloud Sync and turn it on. First sync may take a minute.

How do I disable analytics?

Go to Settings → Privacy and toggle off Analytics, Crash Reporting, and Personalization independently. Analytics are off by default until you opt in.

How do I delete all my data?

Settings → Privacy → Delete All Data. This permanently removes every medication, dose log, photo, and setting from your device. If iCloud sync is on, the deletion will propagate to your other devices.

What iOS versions are supported?

Merra requires iOS 18.0 or later.

Is there an Android version?

Not at this time. Merra is built natively for iOS to take advantage of Live Activities, Dynamic Island, Widgets, App Intents, and on-device Vision OCR.

Will there be a Mac or Apple Watch version?

Apple Watch support is on the roadmap. Mac support is something we're considering. Email us if it would help you.
